Young David Sarnoff Lists Titanic Survivors

You see before you young David Sarnoff, one of the great names in the early days of radio. Here he is seen as a wireless operator on Nantucket island, Massachusetts, where he received the news of the Titanic's collision with an iceberg. Staying with his wireless for a grueling 72 hours, he recorded the names of the survivors as radioed by the ship Carpathia.

Others tell me that there is a lot of controversy about whether Sarnoff did in fact communicate with the Titanic. They assert that the physical evidence like station logs and the like is against it. Many say that Sarnoff in later life was a self-promoter who just made up what seemed like a plausible story.
